Has COVID-19 messed up your Christmas event plans? Every year you attend your favorite Christmas festivities: candlelight service, Christmas concert, reindeer petting zoo, etc. Well here comes 2020 and we are stuck at home! Who knows, those unassuming fluffy reindeer might be COVID-19 carriers! What are we do to??
Here is a Christmas event option that combines all your favorite parts of those now-canceled festivities. Christmas at Cornerstone is a completely online Christmas experience put on by Cornerstone Community Church in Harford County, Maryland. Coming out on December 19th at 5:30 (and available for your enjoyment forever), it includes sing along Christmas carols; jazz, rock, folk, and children’s performances; a gospel presentation; and many many candles. A lot of candles.
Did I mention many candles? The theme this year is “those dwelling in darkness have seen a great light.” Through song and word, we are reflecting on the darkness brought on our world by COVID-19 and looking to the same great light that entered the world on that famous, shepherd-spooking, angel-singing evening—Jesus, the great light.
It’s about all you could want in a Christmas event from the comfort of your COVID-19 free (I hope) home. Ok, we don’t have a way for you to pet reindeer. But there is a gnome that wanders through the musical sets. So snuggle up on the couch, grab some cookies and hot chocolate, and enjoy some free Harford County Christmas tunes without traveling anywhere. Unless you count the virtual travelling to cornerstonejoppa.org/christmas-at-cornerstone/ Take that COVID-19!
