With games and confetti
We’ll lay low, no mistletoe
Zoom distant family

New Year’s Eve will find me
Where the music streams

Reviving hopes and dreams

Sip root beer floats, have champagne toasts
Light fireworks endlessly

New Year’s Eve reminds me
The Times Square Ball sure gleams

Creating memories…

Saw my old dentist in a party store
The ball was falling New Year’s Eve
I hid behind him in the candy isle
But he didn’t seem to leave
He didn’t recognize the mask I wore
He was as old as Father Time
He bought some eggnog and some dental floss
Then cold soda and a lime…

Should all mask-wearing be forgot
And COVID left our minds?
We will make the most of New Year’s yet
And hug for times gone by!
